I do not know how, and I should not!

Daniel W. Whittle (1840-1901), the author of a classic hymn writes:

I know not how God’s wondrous Grace
To me he hath made known
Nor why unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for his own.

Figuring out howGod does what He does is not ours. Figuring out how He will pull us out of that ‘fix’ is not ours. Even figuring out how He did what He did at Calvary is not ours.
This Grace is greater than our understanding. It lies on thousands of years of promise (Genesis 3:15). So, the ‘how’ is not our question.
What should we know? Whittle goes on to write:

But “I know whom I have believed
And am persuaded that He is able.”

Ours is to know WHO does all these gracious things for us. Believein His power to save, heal, and liberate.
The message of Grace is one of faith, not works. It’s a message of God’s ability, not our ability. It’s a message of what He can do if we allow Him to, not what our ability allows us to do.
Paul, in Romans 11:6 puts it this way, “And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.”
May the GRACE of God ignite a fire of Faith in us to believe in God’s ability to deliver his own, through what His son did on the cross.
